Erin and Derrick tied the knot at Starlight Meadows in Burlington, NC. There was so much detail and creativity put into the style and decor of their southern wedding. The ceremony was set in a small clearing which was surrounded by golden wheat fields as far as you could see. The backdrop for the ceremony was a custom-built barn wood wall with antique picture frames hanging from it. The reception took place in a nearby barn with exposed wood timbers, large barn doors, sheer draperies and hundreds of strung lights. Each table was adorned with its own perfectly placed grouping of flowers, mason jars, candles, vintage books and canisters. The sides of the dining room were strung with tiny hearts which were hand cut from the pages of old books. All of these details came together to create a sense of rustic elegance which was the perfect backdrop for Erin and Derrick’s big day.
With the hustle and bustle of the modern wedding day there’s so much nervousness and anxiety that builds up for a bride and groom. Just when you think your stomach can’t take another moment of waiting, your bride walks down the aisle and you’re pleasantly surprised with a new wave of feelings. Feelings of comfort, calmness, relief, and joy fill your heart and for a few minutes you’re the only two people on earth. Erin and Derrick will forever stick out in my mind as one of the most passionate couples I’ve ever photographed. Shooting wedding after wedding as your job can sometimes make you forget that rush of emotion associated with seeing your bride walking toward you. Their raw emotion and uncontrollable love for one another was a refreshing reminder of that beautiful moment. Thanks so much for giving us the opportunity to document this special time in your lives and we wish you the very best as husband and wife. -mn&bn
